Face Lifts Erase up to 10 Years

Face Lifts usually leave patients pleased with their results. The only bad face lift is the one you notice. For the best face lifts, the results are natural-looking and subtle enough that others know you’re looking like a younger, fresher version of yourself, but they can’t put their finger on why.

In particular, face lifts are excellent at addressing specific signs of aging around the face.

“Face lift is a great operation for patients who have skin hanging underneath their chin, wrinkles in front of their ears, or fullness along their jaw line,” said Dr. Richard Vanik, director of Amerejuve Cosmetic Surgery and a board-certified plastic surgeon. “These are patients that generally have gone as far as they can go with Juvederm, Restylane, fillers, and Botox, and sometimes they just have problems that fillers or the Botox just aren’t going to help.”

Amerejuve also offers injectables such as Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, and others, but as Vanik notes, there are some signs of aging that cannot be corrected with injectables.

After a full consultation and a discussion of the patient’s goals, Vanik said the surgeon will determine the details of the procedure.

The procedure involves small incisions around the ear and possibly under the chin. These incisions will be hidden in the hair line or natural creases in the skin to reduce the visibility of the small remaining scars. Then, the surgeon will lift the skin and fat of the face to reveal the muscles. Once the muscles are tightened and strengthened, the skin is pulled back. Any excess skin will be removed.

“Which direction we pull the skin depends on what the patient wants to improve,” Vanik said. To correct loose skin on the neck, the skin will be pulled up. To tighten skin along the jaw, the skin will be pulled back. For a patient who wants to address both, the surgeon will determine an angle between the two to maximize results.

“Patients typically lose about 10 years of aging off their face,” Vanik said, and are pleased with their results.
