SkinPen Microneedling – Fight Facial Acne Scars | Reduce Acne Scars, Fine Lines, Blemishes

What can you do for your acne scars?

If you have acne scarring from previous acne that has left your skin with deep “cratered” or “Ice Pick” skin then Microneedling Skin pen is highly recommended for that problem! Microneedling uses fine needles with vibration to penetrate the skin making small microscopic wounds; this technique signals your Fibroblast to start rebuilding Collagen and Elastin while signaling your skins defense mechanism to start healing itself. The new Collagen that has formed will help smooth out the skins appearance which helps the appearance of scars, acne scars, fine lines, stretch marks, large pores, hair loss and wrinkles. When getting Microneedling treatments done, you want to stop using any exfoliating products atleast 5-7 days before treatment and wait atleast 7 days to start using those products after treatment, which include Retinol, Retin-A, Salicylic acid, Glycolic acid, Benzoyl peroxide and any physical scrubs. You will want to avoid any rigorous exercise and direct sun exposure for the first few days along with any alcohol based products as this can cause adverse side effects, you can experience redness, bruising and some inflammation post treatment for a few days. When your skin starts the healing process it can feel like sand paper as those micro injuries start healing, you cannot see them but you can feel them, flaking is also normal but not all will experience flaking. You cannot wear makeup right after to avoid any infections but you can wear makeup the following day but we suggest holding off for as long as you can during the healing process.

For best results we recommend a minimum of 6 treatments 4 weeks apart, with microneedling you see a glow and feel tightness after skin has healed but after each treatment the results are continually progressing as new collagen and elastin is forming. Keep in mind that as we age we do deplete our collagen and elastin so to keep up the results for your scarring you do need to come in for maintenance after you finished your treatment plan, frequency of maintenance varies on how severe the scarring is and how you want your desired results to last!

Men's SkinPen Microneedling Treatment - Fight Facial Acne Scars

SkinPen (also known as Microneedling) is a non-surgical, cosmetic device for the creation of “micro” skin punctures to improve the appearance of the skin. The result is smoother, healthier skin!
It is a great treatment option for acne scars, wrinkles, sun damage, uneven texture, and thin skin. Patients will typically need a series of 3 sessions, spaced every 4 weeks.
Microneedling can be performed on all parts of the body, but is most commonly done on the face and neck.
We recommend that all patients go directly home immediately after their treatment and completely avoid the sun. The skin will be red and slightly swollen right after the treatment, similar to sunburn. The redness and swelling typically improve on the second day. On the third day, most redness and swelling have resolved.
When you first arrive, we will clean the face well. Then a prescription topical numbing ointment is applied to the area for about 20 minutes to improve the comfort of the procedure. After a second cleansing, the procedure takes 20-30 minutes with the electric microneedle device SkinPen. This process sounds like a small electric razor gently buzzing back and forth across the face. We will repeatedly ask you for feedback to optimize your comfort
Yes, the great benefit of this procedure is that it can be used on patients with any skin color, since it does not use strong chemicals or laser energy
During the procedure, the microneedling device (SkinPen) produces thousands of microscopic channels (up to 2.5 mm deep) in the skin from the needles. These microscopic “injuries” encourage the skin’s natural ability to rebuild collagen and elastic fibers and promotes a host of natural growth factors in the skin. This produces tissue remodeling and skin tightening as the newer, thicker collagen is formed. The result is smoother, younger-looking skin with less-visible wrinkles and scars.
Most patients feel healthier, tighter skin immediately, but the natural repair process of the skin will progress over several weeks to months. Collagen formation is a slow process with any type of treatment, and your skin typically continues to improve for up to 6 months after your final treatment.
