Laser Spot Removal

Skin sunspots appear as we age, evidence of sun exposure and damage to the skin. The brown spots, a type of pigmented lesion, can be treated with a number of Amerejuve services. One of the best options is a skin treatment with the Alexandrite laser.

This treatment can address sunspots, hyperpigmentation, age spots, freckles, and other discolorations on the surface of the skin. To schedule a free consultation, call (713) 960-6262.

How does the treatment work?

The energy of the laser targets melanin in the top layer of the skin, damaging it so the body will remove it as part of the natural healing process.

Because the laser targets only the top layer of the skin, or the epidermis, it will not be effective for treating discolorations that extend to deeper layers. A raised pigmented lesion should be examined by a dermatologist before performing any treatment.

What should I expect after my sunspot removal?

Within 5-10 minutes, the sunspot will darken. Over the next 2-3 days, the area will scab. The scab will shed naturally in 7-10 days following treatment, leaving pink skin behind that will gradually return to the same color as the surrounding skin.

How many treatments will I need?

We usually recommend 2-3 treatments to fade the pigment and remove the sunspot as much as possible.

Are there any side effects?

This treatment has some rare possible side effects, including swelling, scarring, infection, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation.
